A decade ago, Missy was diagnosed with Graves disease, an autoimmune disease which affects the thyroid. The illness led to the “Work It” rapper quietly taking a lengthy hiatus from the spotlight.
“It causes hair loss, your eyes bulge,” she told Billboard. “My blood pressure was always up from just overworking.”
For years, Missy battled to get her condition under control. On top of that she had to battle to keep her confidence up.
The boom, Missy Elliott bravely returned the spotlight when she popped up performing at the 2008 Super Bowl.

Missy took the stage and sent t.v. viewers wild with excitement when she performed at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show with Katy Perry. Elliott performed her classic “Get Ur Freak On,” “Work It,” and “Lose Control” and trended worldwide.
After that Missy was officially back!
Now the 46-year-old entertainer just received a boost of confidence, thanks to some minor facial rejuvenation surgery; MTO reports.
And…. She looks absolutely beautiful!
